Hi,
When I try to select my camera from the camera menu, it opens the ascom properties window for the camera When I close the window, I get this pop error, I have attached the log, I am using 64 bit version, I think it may work with the 32 bit, am i to just use 32 bit or can this be fixed? Windows 11

Hi,
can you access the camera in other software on the same computer? SharpCap has builtin support for StarlightXpress camera, but I can see from the log that the builtin support isn't detecting your camera at all, so isn't showing it in the Cameras menu via the builtin option. ASCOM camera drivers work differently - you can't check if the camera is there or not without trying to open it, so they will show in the SharpCap menu even if the camera is not actually connected to the computer.
If it's not working in other software then it would be worth checking that you have installed the StarlightXpress camera drivers on your PC (
https://www.sxccd.com/support/resources/) and also that the USB connection is good and the camera has 12V power.
cheers,
Robin

Thank you, I was able to get ASCOM working, but Im having issues with the cooler, however, i tried it on nina and have the same cooling issue, it just has weird behavior at either wont cool at all or wont cool all the way, anyways, this im brining up to starlight express forum,
my new problem is trying to use sx native driver, everytime i choose the native driver, sharpcap gets hung up, see the bug report attached
thank you for any help

Hi,
unfortunately the bug report reveals that SharpCap is getting stuck waiting for the StarlightXpress SDK to provide information about the camera that's needed to actually start using the camera (like width and height of sensor, color or mono, cooled or not, etc). The function that is getting stuck is called 'sxGetCameraInfo'.
I suspect that the StarlightXpress SDK needs to talk to the camera to get that information, so it's just possible that there is an issue with USB communications that is causing the hang, but I think that's pretty unlikely since the camera seems to work in ASCOM. More likely is a bug with the version of the StarlightXpress SDK that is currently in SharpCap. Unfortunately the version on the sxccd website (
https://www.sxccd.com/support/software-development/) is older than the one in SharpCap - the zip on that page seems to be dated from 2015, but SharpCap has a 2021 version.
Hopefully this is something that SX can fix in the SDK and then I can include an update into SharpCap.
cheers,
Robin
