Can I use two cameras - an Orion Starshoot on finder and ASI290 on 9.25" Celestron?
I would like to do large field first and then confirm small field after slew. I would like to negate alignment error from finder or main scope.

Re: Plate Solve with Two Different Cameras
Hi Don,
as I replied to your email, the field of view for the small ASI290 on the long focal length scope will be right on the edge for plate solving (too small to really solve reliably). With fine-tuning of settings, maximum size star database installed for Astap or Ansvr and some fairly long exposures, you would probably get it to work with some reliability, but even then it may be slow. You may be better off aligning the finder scope carefully with the main scope and relying on the finder scope plate solve.
Note that if you do want to use multiple focal lengthsin SharpCap for plate solving, do not set the 'Focal Length' setting in the plate solve settings, as an incorrect value for that will stop plate solve working. (A correct value can make it faster, but the 'safe' option is to not use the focal length)
cheers,
Robin
