ultrastar bayer matrix

#1

Post by cugsy »

Hi folks. I've had the SX Ultrastar colour for just over 6 months now and had intermittent success. I've used it for EAA short exposures with the SX Live software written for the SX cameras - which (although recommended for these cameras) I've not really got to grips with. That's not to say I'm a genius with Sharpcap...still learning. If I want to simply watch the DSO I'm after build up using the livestack then it seems to be fine. But, when I saved the final image or stack and try to open the file (Fits liberator ) I see a lot of red, green and blue pixels and no object.
One main thing that puzzles me is have I put the correct bayer configuration in the drop down list? I'm reliably informed by Nytecam in an old SGL topic that 'The colour version uses RGBG Bayer matrix.'

When I use the dropdown list for the bayer matrix that configuration isn't there. Strangely enough, the starlight live software doesn't have the RGBG.
How important is the correct bayer matrix? Thanks in advance

OK...I'm an idiot. I'm sure I read the specs for the ultrastar many times and never saw the bayer matrix mentioned. So, I read it again just now and it stared back at me that it is RGGB. I suppose the last 6 months have been terrible for UK astronomy and it is fairly warm. If there were more clear nights etc etc....practice practice and learn to read*
