During live stacking, is there a way to automatically save a stack after x amount of exposures without resetting the stack?

Hi,

no, there isn't that sort of periodic auto-save available by default. However, you could build a sequence using the advanced sequence editor that would (for instance) save every 10 minutes or every 20 frames.

probably best to do it the other way around - set up a sequencer script that will start live stacking for you and then save every 10 frames (or whatever). Once that is done, you can save that and have it available quickly via the Sequencer->Run... or Sequencer->Run Recent... menus.

If you put everything in your sequence inside an 'Unlock the SharpCap Camera controls while running these steps' block, you will be able to adjust the live stacking manually while the sequence is running (by default, the sequencing tool locks out manual operation to avoid the risk of changing something that would stop the automated sequence running properly).

Thanks, will see if I can figure that out, sounds like it would do what I want!

Using the sequencer and can get the live stack to start, then take 10 frames and save but can't find a sequencer command that won't start the stack over after saving. I don't see a live stack command in the processing section that allows me to save "every" x number of frames. Using this one:

"Live Stack for 10 frames then save as FITSRawStack32Bit counting Stacked"

Is there a version of that command that saves every 10 frames doesn't reset the stack count? I'm obviously new to this and appreciate the help!

I had forgotten that that particular step did a reset at the beginning - sorry about that.

The fix would be to use the 'Live stack for 20 more frames then pause' step, immediately followed by a 'Save current live stack', then a 'Resume live stacking' - that should do the trick.

I’m able to get the automatic ave to work, just need to sort out the best way for it to continue as long as I’m stacking. I’m using a repeat x times now but would be nice to just have it continue as long as live stack is running. Thanks again for the help.

Hi Dave,

unfortunately I don't think there's really a solution for that in the sequencer. The sequencer is really all about doing a fixed list of tasks in order, so there is very little in it that responds to other changes. Your best bet may be to set a really high count for the repeat then manually cancel the sequence when you stop live stacking.
