Getting color out of stacked raw16 ser data captured with SharpCap
I am using SharCap pro in raw16 SER mode to capture image data on a Windows 10 laptop. When I use a viewer on the laptop I see color images (the raw16 is debayed). I transfer the data to my Ubuntu Linux workstation for processing. When I use my Ubuntu viewer on the workstation the data is in color. I process the data, aligning and stacking, using Siril on the workstation. Siril treats the raw16 SER data as black and white only. The stacks are also limited to black and white. I have even tried fooling around using a Siril feature to break the stacked image into 4 separate color files and then used Siril to reassemble them. Nothing converts them to color. Clearly I must be missing something very simple. I see loads of beautiful color deep sky images and surely using SharpCap and Siril together must be very common. What I am missing?

Re: Getting color out of stacked raw16 ser data captured with SharpCap
Hi,
I don't use Siril very much, but it looks like it has some options regarding the debayering of SER and FITS files that might be worth checking - see https://siril.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ ... s_gui.html
I'd be surprised if the default for that was 'Off' in the settings though - one of the nice things about SER files is that they define the way to store the bayer pattern nice and simply, so software reading the file can be sure of doing the right thing (unlike FITS, where a host of header options can feed in to working out what bayer pattern if any is used in the file).
cheers,
Robin
