Sequence cycle not completing when popup shows up

#1

Post by Simon2940 »

The following popup stops the sequence capture process and effectively locks out sharpcap so that no buttons work. The only way to fix this is to exit the application.

This happens when the histogram is set in a way that would trigger the message below.

Hi,

can you share details of the sequence you are running please - that notification shouldn't lock anything up, but it may be the last thing sent to update the UI *before* something else locks things up.

cheers,

Robin

It happens specifically when selecting Start Captures and I mess with the Histogram.

Ive tested this on several different cameras and the same issue occurs.

Basically, i select the number of frames, sequence length and then interval.

Once it starts, i can mess with the histogram by dragging the middle one to the left. When the frame capture starts, that warning pops up. Once the frames are captured, the notice to wait does not show up and all the buttons for capture are greyed out. The only way to get out of it, is to close SC down.

I can try produce a video of it happening if that helps.

Hi Simon,

ah, I get it now - the notification there is hiding the normal one about the next part of the sequence running and hiding the cancel button that comes with it. I will deal with the problem for the next update.

cheers,

Robin

Hi Simon,

thanks for taking the time to point out this problem - I got the fix sorted and it is in the new update (4.1.12281 - available on the downloads page). Love the solar images on your instagram, super shots!

cheers,

Hey Robin, is there anyway to disable the message entirely? It seems that I still get the odd issue with it preventing capture or it getting stuck.

Thanks again!

Hi,

tricky to decide what is best here, since the warning serves a purpose of saving people from recording almost black videos/images because they have forgotten the display stretch is applied.

What's the situation that means that you have a display stretch enabled while doing short exposure imaging?

cheers,

I found an odd way to get out of the issue by moving the warning bar from the top to the bottom, even when it shows up, i dont stuck.

Reason why i ignore this warning is because when doing solar imaging, i can adjust the histogram to see proms without affecting exposure or during exposure.

I also use it for visual focusing and sometimes it requires an extreme stretch.

Hi,

odd that moving it to the bottom helps. I will have to see about a 'don't warn me again' option for that message (and perhaps the one about capturing long exposures in 8 bit too).

cheers,

Robin
