Hi to all.
My question is about creating master darks with the QHY 410 C. I am a bit confused about the setting for a color camera.
Exposure time, gain, etc. no problem, however.
Do I have to use the Raw 16 setting, as I do for my mono camera or is RGB24 the better option.?
I tried both and the RGB24 setting delivered a total black image, so I think that RAW16 is the correct setting.
All in all, I am very happy with the 410 C camera. Production of this model is discontinued. So hopefully it does not brake down.

Regards, William

Hi Willian,

yes, RAW16 is the right option to choose for deep sky imaging, as it will retrieve the data from the camera with the full bit depth of the imaging sensor, rather than only at 8 bit in the RGB24 option. You should use RAW16 for both light and dark frames, and keep other settings like exposure, gain, etc the same between the dark and light frames.

thanks,

Robin
