Onstep ASCOM, Stellarium, Sharpcap and plate solving

#1

Post by -JFK- »

Hi all,

I have a problem with the plate solving in Sharpcap.
All is set as it should, I request a goto with Stellarium, center the target to the sensor, sync position, and launch a plate solving & recenter but I always get a slight offset applied.
The offset is always the same, function to the target location.
It's not backlash.

I made some research and find something interesting about JNOW and J2000 from ASCOM driver, but impossible to find a setting.

Attached is the log during the "bug" if needed.

Any idea ?
Thanks

I founded a setting in Stellarium that allows to use JNOW.
In telescope settings.
Problem solved.

Hi,

yes, that will sort it - most telescope mount drivers run in JNOW, so if they are sent J2000 co-ordinates there will be a small offset. SharpCap will correct for this automatically when the co-ordinates are entered via SharpCap or you pick a target from the SharpCap catalog, but can't do that when the movement is coming from Stellarium or similar.

cheers,

Robin
