Focuser control

#1

Post by Real14 »

Hi,

I have version 4.1.11786.0 running and I would like to know if there is a possibility to change the words Negative and Positive to IN and OUT as it was before.

Positive and Negative is not very logical IMHO

Thanks Rainer

Hi,

we had a long discussion about this wording some time back, and came to the conclusion that 'In' and 'Out' was not correct, because the direction that the focuser moved for a particular button depended on both the physical installtion of the focuser and settings in the ASCOM driver to reverse direction - neither of which SharpCap knew anything about. Not just that, but for some telescopes the wording in/out just doesn't make sense - SCT's for instance with a focuser knob that moves the primary mirror...

The change also made the wording in the main focus control align with other parts of SharpCap where focus scans were in 'Positive' and 'Negative' directions rather than in/out.

So, I'm not keen on changing back, sorry...

cheers,

Robin

Hi Robin,

I was thinking about it and I guess we could say that Positive is adding steps and Negative is substracting steps? :?

Hi,

yes, essentially that's the intention - positive is making a positive change to step count (adding), etc.

cheers,

Robin
