Hi, is there any way to access the digital gain of an ASI 432 from within Sharpcap ?
It would be very useful when using the camera for faint stellar occultations.
Other software does seem to give access to this feature.
Thanks!

Re: Digital Gain with ASI 432
Hi,
as far as I am aware, there isn't a digital gain feature in the ZWO cameras (there isn't any reference to it in their SDK that I can see). I expect that the digital gain is being added by the other software after it receives the image from the camera (for instance by multiplying all pixel values by 4 to brighten the image).
You can find equivalent functions in SharpCap with the added advantage of the brightening only affecting the image on screen, leaving the saved images untouched. Check out the 'Display Stretch' (https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#Display%20Stretch) and 'Display Effects' options (https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#Image%20Boost)
cheers,
Robin

Re: Digital Gain with ASI 432
Thanks Robin,
That looks to be a good solution. I like the idea of the toggle switch function for the display.
Will try this out for real on the next faint occultation (if the clouds ever part!)
Thanks again
All the best
Simon
