problem using Solar/Lunar Framing Assistant Tool

#1

Post by stbkaiser »

Hi Robin
I am trying trying to use the
Solar/Lunar Framing Assistant Tool.

using sharpcap pro v 4.1.10700 64bit
RST135 mount with Lunt LS60MT/B1200R&P w LS50FHa dbl stk filter
ASI 178MM camera with NO ROI.

When I try to do the Calibration step, no matter how fast or slow I click on the feature (sun spot) in the image , Sharpcap fails "Calibration failed, not enough click points)
See attached log file extract and screen shot.
Any idea how to get this to work?

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

Ok, the points that you click on should form a line as the feature moves (roughly speaking). The first 20% of the movement from the starting point (the first click) is ignored, and there must be at least 4 points in the last 80% of the movement distance, otherwise you will get that message about not enough click points. The ignore of the points in the first 20% of movement is to make sure that the calculations are not confused by backlash being taken up.

At least that's the theory - I had better test that it works in practice now!

cheers,

Robin

Ah, a couple of bugs had crept in in 4.1 - I think I have them pinned down now. Should be sorted in tomorrow's update.

cheers,

Robin

Hi,

I have just uploaded 4.1.10790, which fixes the errors I found with this tool. Hopefully that will make things work for you.

cheers,

Robin

Hi Robin
Thanks for looking at this and the update 4.1.10790
Weather here is bad for day or night imaging.
Forecast is bad for next week or more. Really not our typical June.
As soon as I get to see the sun again I will test it and report back.
Take care
Steve
