Way to stop live stacking after X failed frames in sequencer?

Is there a way in the sequencer to stop the Live stack function if it can't align after some number of frames?

I have a script that runs through a bunch of targets and when done, parks the scope at its home position. Last night, it was running through the targets and got to one that it couldn't align (I have mount or alignment issues I need to address, apparently), but like the little engine that could, it kept trying.

The result is that I woke up to the scope pointing to the sky. Luckily I was imaging to the west, so no chance of catching the sun. I looked through the function list and didn't any anything. Below is the snippet of the script I am using.

Code: Select all

    LOOP EACH RADEC IN "C:\XXX\May 2023 SW.txt"
        LOG "Start Capture Sequence"
        LOOP 1 TIMES
            DELAY 45
            MOUNT SOLVEANDSYNC
            DELAY 45
            LIVE STACKING RESET
LIVE STACK FOR 20 FRAMES SAVING AS AllFormats COUNTING Stacked FRAMES
        END LOOP
        LOG "End capture sequence"
    END LOOP

Hi,

no, currently nothing to monitor for failure to stack consecutive frames.

There are a couple of options though...

1) Change the 'Counting stacked frames' to 'counting total frames' - that will stop stacking after 20 frames regardless of whether they were stacked or not

2) Wrap the live stacking step in a 'Stop running these steps after <XX> minutes' - that way you can put a time limit on each stack, so if you hit the same problem it will give up after (say) 15 minutes and move on.

cheers,

Robin

Perfect, thanks Robin. Either route will work fine for my needs.
