Hi, I have two cameras a ZWO ASI585 MC which when I connect in SC under image controls I get 3 sliders allowing me to adjust the red, blue and brightness levels. When I connect my Altair 26C all I get under image controls is the ability to add a time stamp?
Anyone know why.
I've obviously done something when all I thought I'd done is changed the cameras over. First closing the 585 and then connecting the 26C.
this is really down to a difference of approach of the two manufacturers...
The way that RGB adjustments are applied is to multiply the pixel values by some adjustment amount after the image is read from the camera, so if you boost blue a bit then the blue pixel values will be multiplied by 1.23 or whatever. This happens in the camera software on your PC.
Altair's approach is that if you are in 'RAW' mode then doing that is not desireable - it means that the data saved to file is no longer the raw pixel data coming from the camera. You do get some colour adjustment controls in RGB mode.
ZWO's approach is to put the controls there and let you use them if you want (or not if you don't).
Personally, I tend to prefer the Altair approach - I avoid making RGB adjustments on the camera and fix the colour after stacking.
