Changing goto on the fly

Robin, i've been using sharpcap with ascom and stellarium with the virtual telescope most of the time so i can push-to with my dobs over eq platform.
I also have a skywatcher goto telescope with synscan and i never connected it to sharpcap because i'm afraid to mess and loose my smooth virtual telescope connection and then struggle to go back to the way i was.
Is it any simple way that i can use to change from virtual telescope to synscan and vice versa without messing it all? Maybe it's simpler than i think, i don't know.
Thank you

Hi,
you can create alternative SharpCap configurations and launch SharpCap to use one of the alternative configurations via command line options (making a shortcut on the desktop with the correct options added). This lets you tinker with your hardware settings in the new configuration without affecting your main config.
See the documentation for the '/instance' parameter here :
https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0/#Comman ... 0Arguments
cheers,
Robin

So i just create a new shortcut, add /instance 2 to the shortcut path, open sharpcap, make the modifications and i get 2 different scenarios depending on the shortcut i click. Is that simple?

No it doesn't work. Should i have to create a script? How can i add the /instance 2 to work ?

I ran a script: "C:\Program Files\SharpCap 4.1 (64 bit)\SharpCap.exe" /instance=2
Then i created a shortcut with this path.
Is this Robin?
And now i just open through the shortcut and make all the changes i need without it interfere with the main one?

Hi,
create a shortcut on the desktop to SharpCap.exe (in c:\program files\...), then when that is created, edit the properties of the shortcut and add
*after* the closing double quote around the target - like this

- Capture.JPG (54.33 KiB) Viewed 1682 times
Then when you double click that shortcut you should get '#2' in the window title, like this

- Capture2.JPG (20.53 KiB) Viewed 1682 times
The settings will initially be a copy of your normal settings, but any changes you make after first running it will not affect the other copy (except capture profiles - they are shared).
cheers,
Robin

Yes, my path was working. The first one failed because i inserted the /instance 2 inside the "". Now i know it's working fine because i can see that #2 at the top. I didn't noticed it before and it's very important for us to make sure we are in the right session. Thanks! Another hidden sharpcap gem
