beta failed can't install new or old

Hi
Windows 10 Pro
I have had no issues with the betas until now. This newest one 4.1.10407.0-64bit not so much.
I have tried to run the new beta version 4.1.10407.0-64bit and it didn't seem to work as well for me. I tried to uninstall and it seemed to have done so. I went back to load the current working version 4.0.9545.0-64bit and it tells me I can not. I have tried to clean out the registry as best I can and yet still it fails to load the 4.0 version. It tells me I have a newer version and will not load the older version. Log file is below. If that helps any.
All ASCOM is current for mount and cameras ZWO and iOptron .

Hi Jim and welcome

There is another SharpCap directory in the users map: C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\SharpCap\
If that is there, delete that.
For the registry, as far as I know it's enough to delete Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AstroSharp Limited\
With those removed you should be able to install any version of SharpCap.

Hi,

unfortunately given the log information above, it looks like the error is coming from the installer.

I think the most likely approach to work to get things back in good order is as follows

* Look in Windows 'Add and Remove Programs' to find what version of SHarpCap 4.0 you currently have installed - if you click on SharpCap 4.0 in the list, it will give some more info include the exact version - ie 4.0.9538

* Download the installer for the exact version you already have installed - make sure it's the 64 bit installer if you have SharpCap 4.0 64 bit installed - the 32 bit one otherwise

* Run the installer you have just downloaded - that should offer the option to uninstall the current version - do that. Doing the uninstall this way rather than just doing it from 'Add Remove Programs' tends to be more reliable and work in some situations where add/remove programs does not.

Hopefully the above steps will complete - then you can go back and install the latest SharCap 4.0 (4.0.9545) from scratch and that should install and hopefully work.

Nothing exists as far as SharpCap in add remove programs. No such animal. No place on the entire PC does it give me any version of Sharpcap. Installer uninstaller nothing. This one beta really messed things up on me. GGRRR. grumble grumble.

Here is the message I get now.

" The older version of SharpCap 4.1 (64bit) cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. "

I have found no further files on the pc that I can remove. How the heck can I fix this other than a Windows reinstall?

I did find the file /folder ( AstroCap ) in temp local which I had seen this name before in my searches in the registry. Things loaded just fine after that empty folder was deleted.
Not 100% sure the file /folder name now. I was just happy to get the new beta installed and did not think about saving the file ,but I think it was AstroCap.
This hint to start searching helped. C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\SharpCap\
