Basler Camera and Trig in

#1

Post by thierrymidavaine »

Hi,

In France we intend to purchase Basler cameras to record stellar occultations by asteroids. To improve time stanping accy we would like to use sharpcap to drive the camera with using a timebox which a device able to deliver the trig in the camera. Does Sharpcap is able to deliver then the digital video file with the time stamping comming from the Timebox ?
Thanks for your answer

Hi Thierry,

SharpCap doesn't have the functionality to set up hardware triggering for Basler cameras (SharpCap does use software triggering for long exposures, but not hardware). I don't think there is a way to work around this - I just tried opening the Basler camera I have in both SharpCap *and* Pylon viewer at the same time, in the hope that I could use Pylon viewer to adjust settings that SharpCap does not show, but you get an error trying to open the camera a second time.

How about the QHY174GPS camera, which has GPS based timing built into the camera and is fully suported by SharpCap?

cheers,

Robin
