Please include the following details in any bug report:
* Version of SharpCap
* Camera and other hardware being user
* Operating system version
* Contents of the SharpCap log after the problem has occurred.
[If SharpCap crashes, please send the bug report when prompted instead of including the log]
If you come across a bug in SharpCap that doesn't involve SharpCap crashing then please post in the following details in a new thread in this forum:
A thread subject that briefly describes the problem
A description of what you were trying to do
A list of the steps needed to make the bug happen
The contents of the SharpCap log collected after the problem has occurred
You may need to enable the option 'Record extra information in the log for troubleshooting' to get a more detailed log of the things SharpCap did (and tried to do. This can be found near the bottom of the first page of the SharpCap settings window. Turn this option on immediately after opening SharpCap (before selecting your camera).
Since the log text can be rather long, please post it as an attachment rather than including it in the body of your post.
While SharpCap is running you can get the log text by selecting the 'File' menu and the choosing 'Show Log'. Logs are also saved in the folder

Hope this helps and you can assist me to uninstall said program and I will await the release of the unbuged ver or 3.1 -- 3.2
Kind Regards George 11/12/17
Thanks for the report - this is a false positive (again - sigh...) from Microsoft Windows Defender. It's a bit odd, since it picks up the installer package (the msi file) saying there is something bad inside it, but when I unpack the contents (or allow the installation to run through) it then does not find any threat in the unpacked files.
As far as I can see the very latest 3.1 build (3.1.4722) is unaffected by this false positive - please try this version.
Start Sharpcap 3.1 OK
Previewing with lens cap on OK
Take lens cap off image reflects this OK
Snapshot OK
Quick Capture OK
Run Sensor Analysis - Sharpcap reports illumination too low (even though camera is pointing at an overcast daytime sky) and Sharpcap Camera driver appears to have crashed no response from camera.
Frame progress bar now stays full
Removing lens cap now has no effect on preview
Close Camera
Restart Sharpcap
No response from camera even though camera detected
Reboot Laptop
Restart Sharpcap - No response from camera even though camera detected
Unplug camera
reboot laptop
plug in camera
Restart Sharpcap - Sometimes this clears this issue.
Another observation:
Gain Level Slider appears to be erratic, inconsistant and sometimes unresponsive.
Fire Capture & EZ Cap will work flawlessly

SharpCap is setting too long an exposure during the sensor analysis due to a bug in sensor analysis initialization (setting Brightness not Offset to a near minimum value). I think many of the other observations are following on from this - for instance the long exposure value will be saved automatically when you closed and restored the next time you started SharpCap. Auto-restoring the last used settings is usually a helpful feature (new in 3.1), but in this case is probably leading to you continuing to have some problems after restarting SharpCap.
I will fix the sensor analysis bug for the next version. Please re-test then if you are still interested in the sensor analysis. You can stop SharpCap from auto-restoring camera settings by holding down CTRL while opening the camera.
