Black screen when switching to live stack

#1

Post by Daddypig »

I have been using Sharpcap successfully for about 3 months now without any issues until today.
set up went as planned, right up to starting to live stack then preview went black. Nothing going to capture folder and also no option to use save button [even though there is nothing there] it doesnt work.
Tried a different camera, still the same.
Please help if you can.

Hi,

if the 'Save' button in live stacking is unavailable then that means that no frames have been added to the stack yet, so there is nothing to save. That ties in with your 'black' image I think.

So, why no frames being added?

One option is a camera problem - no frames coming from the camera for some reason - keep an eye on the frame counts bottom left and if the 'Previewed' frame count is going up then all is well on that score. If the preview frame count is the same and (perhaps) the dropped frame count is going up then the camera not getting frames to SharpCap is the culprit. In this case there may be more info on *why* in the main SharpCap log.

The second possibility is that something in the live stacking settings may be blocking the frames from the camera from being added to the stack. There are several things that might do this if turned on and configured incorrectly - for instance the filters on frame FWHM measurement (focus quality). If you look at the live stacking tabs, there is a 'Log' tab on the far right - switch to this and you will see any information about why frames are not being stacked, which might be helpful to you.

Hope this helps,

Robin
