Camera drop down menus adjustment

My Sharpcap has lots of versions of cameras listed, sometimes the same camera mentioned a few times, and I would like to be able to trim this list down to the ones I use. Can this be done

Hi,

no, not really - the different entries for the same camera are because their are different ways that SharpCap can talk to the camera, so there is an entry for each option. For instance with a ZWO camera you might have

1) An entry in the ZWO ASI Cameras section - this is the one where SharpCap talks direct to the camera and will usually give the best results

2) An entry in the ASCOM cameras section (if you have the ZWO ASCOM drivre installed) - in this case SharpCap talks to the camera via the ASCOM driver

3) An entry in the DirectShow cameras section - in this case SharpCap talks to the camera via the ZWO webcam driver

Normally you want to use the one nearest the top of the list for best functionality (SharpCap orders the list to keep things in that order). However there are cases where you (or someone else) might want to pick one of the other options for some reason such as to work around a bug.

Robin, thanks for the reply…I thought that would be the case but also thought there might be a file somewhere that could be altered to suit individual preferences. Thanks anyway.. take care. Jeff
