SV Bony Sv305 camera not recognized

#1

Post by jdolmen »

Hi,

my SVBony 305 camera is recognized correctly with the version 4.0.9132.0 (32 bit) 4th July 2022

However if I install the next version 4.0.9152.0 (32 bit) 11th July 2022 is not recognized. Same happens with
the latest release.

In the changelog of the 9152 version it is mentioned:

Update SVBony SDK to version 1.8.1
– improvements for SV405CC

however it seems it has broken the dtection of the sV305, or is it something I'n missing here ?

Thanks

Hi,

I suppose it's possible, it's also possible that you need to update the SVBony drivers to a newer version to match the SDK.

It's worth trying 4.0.9246 as that has an even newer SVBony SDK in it (and I have an even newer one than that ready for the next update). SVBony have been very busy recently :)

cheers,

Hi, I've installed version 4.0.9268.0 dated 2022-08-29 (64-bit) with version 1.9.4_2022-08-17 of the SVBONY SDK, and it looks like the sdk DLL is not loading.

Everything is scarily recent... Maybe I should try hunting for an older version, but I figured you would like to know.

This is on windows 10 pro Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044

Hi,

that's weird - seems ok on loading the DLL here. Can you check that SVBCameraSDK.dll is in the folder C:\Program Files\SharpCap 4.0 (64 bit) and also check the size of it (should be 4722688 bytes)

I have also had problems with my SV305 here - will not work in SharpCap 4, works in 3.2. My SV305Pro works. SVBony say the SV305 works for them no problem. I need to test on a different machine when I get a moment to try to see if I can narrow down what the cause might be.

cheers,

The SVBCameraSDK.dll seems to be in the right place and the right size.

I was being imprecise about the exact SV305 camera I have, mine is the SV305m Pro.

It shows up as an ASCOM camera, (though the Properties panel that pops up fills the screen and I can't seem to find the "ok" button)
and it shows up as a DirectShow camera.

Another detail is that the processor is a Celeron N3350 which doesn't have AVX.
I tried installing 3.2 64-bit and it warned me that it wouldn't work because it was 64 bit.
4.0 32-bit also fails to load the DLL.

The 32-bit version of 3.2.6482 shows a native SV305, but when I try to select it I get the error SVB_ERROR_INVALID_INDEX

I tried loading sharpcap 4.0.9268 on a macbook pro (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3740QM CPU @ 2.70GHz 2.70 GHz)

and the SV305m Pro shows up fine.

So it seems to be something about the processor.

Hi,

thanks for the additional info - it does look like the SVBony DLL may be using AVX or other instructions that aren't available on your Celeron processor.

I will pass this information on to SVBony to see if they can fix it.

cheers,

Hi,

Same here :
- SV305 works fine with 4.09357 32 or 64 bits and last SvBony drivers (1.9.4) on my recent PC
- SV305 not visible (only Directshow and Ascom) on my old laptop (pentium with 4Gb and no AVX) with 4.09357 32 or 64 bits and last SvBony drivers (1.9.4)
- On that laptop, SV305 works fine with 4.09132 32 bits and last SvBony drivers (1.9.4)

Thanks

I have the exact same issue here with my SV305 pro on my laptop with the latest Sharpcap (4.0.9357.0 32 bit) and latest drivers (1.9.4). It's not detected by the software

I don't think it's an AVX issue, well not with me anyway, as my laptop's Ryzen 5 2500U supports various versions of AVX.

Rolling back to version 4.0.9132.0 (32 bit) as suggested earlier by someone in this thread fixes it.

FYI it's a fresh install of windows 10 64 bit (all up to date) and I've set everything fresh up today! Just got the camera and software and spent hours trying to get this to work - fortunately I spotted this thread and tried an older version before pulling all of my hair out!

Hi folks,

thanks for the additional reports - I have passed these reports onto SVBony. At the moment, I can't get my SV305 to work at all (even using old SDK), so I think I may have a hardware problem with the camera :(

cheers,

Robin
