Hi,

current known workaround is to have the latest ASCOM platform installed and use the 'ASCOM device hub' as your mount driver in SharpCap and then set the device hub up to talk to your iOptron device.

Hi,

thanks for the update - that all looks good - I will put together try 3 when I get a chance. We know now that the basic code in SharpCap talks to the ASCOM driver correctly, so it is something in the way that the SharpCap application is set up that is upsetting things. This may take some time to work out :(

Ok, thanks - going to have to think hard about this now, as I am not sure what changes to make to try to make the test 'more like SharpCap' without making it entirely like sharpcap!

Hi Robin,

FWIW - I am using the latest SharpCap and ASCOM 6.6SP1 with an Ioptron CEM26 and the Ioptron Commander 8.0 software on Windows 11 with no issues. However, I just got this setup, and never used previous versions of Commander, or used its driver in other software until now. I wonder if there could be 'residue' from a previous driver install or configuration interfering somehow?

Hi,

that's an intereseting piece of information!

Would you mind posting the exact versions of SharpCap and the Ioptron commander/ASCOM driver that you are using please? It would be interesting to compare those to the versions that are showing errors.

SharpCap 4.0.9357 64 bit

Ioptron Commander 8.00

The Ioptron commander installer installs the ASCOM driver for it - here is the link to the installer I used:
