Moving from Live Stacking to Live View.
3 week novice here.
Seems like it must be so basic but.... - I can't find an answer in forums, manual, Google or Experimentation.
How do you stop Live Stacking and move back to Live View ?
I'm still finding my objects by Starsense as I have not yet figured out how to add ASTAP / ASCOM.
When i finish a Live Stacking Session and Click my chosen save option it just keeps on stacking or re-starts a new stack if I clear, OR when I start Live stacking and find that I would like to re center / adjust its view and then re-start live stack. I want to go back to Live View to re-adjust it but I struggle to do so.
Clicking Live View does not re-activate it.
Clicking Live Stack Again ( thinking I'm toggle cancelling it ) does nothing.
It doesn't fall under stop capture or any other button I can find.
Seems there must be another way besides just shutting Sharpcap down and starting over.
Thanks

Re: How do move from Live Stacking back to Live View.
You just close the Live Stack window (X in top right corner). The stack remains, so you can continue after re-opening Live Stacking once you have re-focused, re-centred, etc. Probably want to do a Clear at that point anyway.
You can do this too for a meridian flip, Pause Live Stack, goto target again (if close to zenith, this will re-goto from other side of pier), refocus and “plate solve and sync/recentre” on target coordinates, then re-open Live Stack and continue. The Alignment routine will rotate the new images to match the stack.
Cheers, Chris.

WOW - so I've been doing it right? That X in the upper right hand corner Closes the program completely back to Windows desktop.
It just seems unbelievable that such an advanced program has to be shut down completely - restarted - re-choose the camera - start settings from scratch - in order to go from Live Stack to Live View to re adjust something, or to move to a new object.
I viewed a list of 8 items the other night and between them and needed re-adjustments I must have shut down and re-started almost 20 times. There must be an option to have the stack remain. Its gone when I re-start.
Thanks for Confirming it though.

Hi,
that's not right !
The two easiest ways to close live stacking are
1) Press the live stack button again -it's a toggle, so you press to turn it on and press again to turn it off.
2) Click the other 'X' to close - the one to the top right corner of the live stacking area above the colour adjust sliders, not the one that is to the top right of the whole application.
hope this helps,
Robin

Thanks for the additional " the one to the top right corner of the live stacking area above the colour adjust sliders" info.
Sorry to be such a novice. I'm working for now on a smaller laptop with night vision option on - and 70 year old eyes thus I did not see those three option buttons over there. I see them now and I did a daytime test. That works. Thank you !!
I've had no luck Clicking the live stack button to end it. It just pauses.
Sometimes after I had tried that and just moved to a new item without restarting then clearing the stack and letting a new one begin, I see the dark of the live stack view start to load over the live stack from the top or bottom. It moves further over the live stack image with each frame loaded just like images used to in the old dial up internet days. It eventually covers about a third of the live stack image and stops.
Going to re-load Sharpcap 4.0. If something can go awry I seem to be the guy that it always happens to. My son is doing that now.
Thank you once again for this great program and your great help. You have re-newed my zeal for astronomy. At this weekends local club star party I was the only Eaa guy there and had to set up away from the others because of the possibility of screen light but for those who found me on the way back from the bathrooms, it was a hit.

Re: How do move from Live Stacking back to Live View.
Hi,
When live stack is active, the toolbar button shows up with a highlight on it (like a real button sometimes has a light behind it when the button is 'on'). Like this
If you press that button again then the live stack area at the bottom will go away and the camera is back in 'not live stacking' mode...
Now, behind the scenes it is a bit more complicated - when you stop live stacking by pressing the 'X' or clicking this button again to make the live stacking area vanish, SharpCap doesn't wipe the stack that is currently in progress, instead it keeps it alive but paused and hidden away. This is important because it means that if you *accidentally* close live stacking, you haven't got to start from scratch, you can just re-open it and press the resume button to carry on. On the other hand, if you do want to start a new stack, you have to press the 'Clear' button when you re-show live stacking to wipe the stack and start a fresh one.
It's good to hear that SharpCap is helping you get back into astronomy - hope that you can continue to impress people with EAA at the star parties
cheers,
Robin

Re: How do move from Live Stacking back to Live View.
I was referring to the X in the top-right corner of the Live Stack window, not the SC screen.
But it’s nice to know that the Live Stack button is a toggle. Cool.
Cheers, Chris.
