I did an experiment today and when I used the West side of the mount vs. the East side to rotate 90 degrees, I got different numbers. Please see attachments. When I used the East side, I got a reading of being off by 2’ 30”. When I used the West side to align, I was off by 45”. Shouldn’t they both be the same?
Please explain as it seems there is almost a 2’ difference using the West vs. East.

Hi,
this is most likely cause by something shifting slightly as the mount is rotating, meaning that the alignment between the mount axis and the telescope/camera you are using is changing as you rotate. Make sure everything is tightly screwed down and that there are no dangling cables (the change in direction of the weight of a USB cable hanging from the back of the camera can cause this effect by pulling on the camera in different directions).
