Guiding Using Sharpcap

#1

Post by Farzad_K »

Hi,

I am exploring Sharpcap and would like to try out its guiding. I know that there are settings for it but I don't know how to activate and use it for deepsky imaging or planetary.

Thanks

Hi,

SharpCap does not do guiding for deep sky imaging (use PHD2 instead).

You can use the feature tracking for planetary/lunar/solar to help follow the target - see https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0/#Feature%20Tracking . Note that this is an experimantal feature and may be hard to get working correctly.

cheers,

Robin

Thanks.

Is an off line user manual available for SharpCap?

Hi Robin and Farzad.

Just posting as I am using the feature tracking now testing the new SkyWatcher Star Adventurer Gti mount.

Feature tracking is working brilliantly on the Sun (Using a 100,000 ND filter)

A video of this morning just before doing the meridian flip.

Also a screenshot of my settings. These work well on the Az-Gti also.
