Hi,

thanks for those insights - I will flag 'overshoot' as recommended in the settings and try to work out some way to guide people to defocus first then scan.

Hi,

yes, you initiate the scan with the 'Scan Positive' button (was Scan Out) as shown in the documentation here : https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#(Nearl ... 20Focusing

Before you do that, set the options below to set the number of steps to make in the scan (11 to 15 ) and the step size. The total length of the scan (number of steps times step size) should be enough to take you from noticeably out of focus on one side through best focus to out of focus on the other - that lets SharpCap collect enough data to work out the best focus position.
