ASTAP: Field of view problem

#1

Post by carlomuccini »

I have recently been using the ASI 294MM at normal resolution 11 Megapixel in BIN 2 to obtain an image of 2072x1410
I always set the focal length of the telescope I use and the plate soving works great.

The problem arises when I use the FIT file generated by the LiveStack by uploading it to ASTAP (the next day).

ASTAP is unable to do the plate solving of the FIT because in the header of the FIT the focal length of the telescope that I had set on SharpCap is reported.

I have to change the field of view on ASTAP by dividing it by two (I have shot in BIN 2) and then ASTAP resolves the image and everything is fine.
SharpCap 4.0.9011.0-64bit and previuos

ASTAP WARNING = 'Warning inexact scale! Set FOV=0,76d or scale=1,9"/pix or FL=492mm '
the telescope is TEC140 980mm fl

Hi Carlo,

ah, I think it will be the pixel size headers that are the problem. Looks like most programs expect XPIXSZ and YPIXSZ to include binning, so I will update SharpCap to write them out that way. I think that will fix the issue for you.

cheers,

Robin
