ZWO ASI294MM not recognised by Sharpcap 3.2.6062 64bit

Post by DavidThomas »

I connected my brand new ASI294MM camera to my windows 10 PC running Sharpcap 3.2.6062 64bit
This V3.2 set up runs ASI071,294MC and 183 just fine
' Check for updates' said its 'up-to-date' - and didnt tell me about V4

Sharpcap didnt recognise the ASI294MM at all
I had updated all the ZWO camera drivers, rebooted etc etc -
As a desperate measure I installed the ZWO Directshow driver - that that did see the ASI294MM

I discovered Sharpcap V4.0 and that had not problems running the 294MM.

My question is
Is it a known issue that V3.2 doesn't accept ZWO drivers for the ASI294MM? ( That would surprize me)
Or is there possibly something wrong with the firmware of my new ASI294MM?

Thanks for any info on this

Hi David,

3.2.6062 was created in July 2019, and a lot of stuff has happened since then :) I suspect that the 294MM camera was created after that point, so that the ZWO components in 3.2.6062 have no idea about it. I'm not quite sure why you are not getting prompted for auto-updates, as not only is there SharpCap 4.0, but also the latest version of 3.2, which was from March 2021 and might well be new enough to support the 294MM.

Anyway, a manual upgrade is definitely the way to go.

cheers,

Robin
