Smart Histogram "use a vlaue of" too high

#1

Post by SgtBilko »

I ran the smart histogram on all of my filters a few weeks ago. I have an ASI6200MM Pro. The smart histogram recommended a gain of 100 and offset of 10 for all my broadband filters but higher gain for narrowband. I wanted (at the time) to keep the same gain across all filters, so (whilst noting the brightness value for each filter) I fixed the gain at 100 which gave longer exposures.

I changed my mind today (shorted exposures with bigger gain) and went back to Smart Histogram to recalculate exposures using the sky brightness values previously noted.

The box “use a value of x e/pixels” allows values down to 0.10, but my HA filter produced a sky brightness of 0.055 and Sii 0.035.

Any ideas, please ?

Hi,

sounds like I better allow a lower value in that adjustment :)

For now, if you need 0.05 and use 0.1, you need to multiply the suggested exposure by 2.

cheers,

Thank you Robin. I'm trying to get back to your recomended gain calculation for narrowband filters. When I originally ran these calculations I dropped gain to the broadband recomended number (100 for ASI6200). Of reflection this gave too high an exposure value.

Do you have any idea when you will issue your next update ?

Thank you
