PrimaluceLab Esatto Focuser connectivity
Hi all. Just searched and found no topics including the Esatto focuser. I just acquired a new Esatto 4" for my scope. It is working via the focus manager software from PrimaluceLab. I've tried to get it working with Sharpcap 4, but so far it doesnt seem to be driving the focuser, despite reporting motion and stage location when I select ASCOM compatible focuser as the type. Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

Re: PrimaluceLab Esatto Focuser connectivity
Hi,
all I can suggest is to check the setup/properties window for the ASCOM driver to see if there is anything that needs configuring. It may be that the ASCOM driver has separate settings to the main application, so things like step size, stepper motor force, COM port, etc might need adjusting.
cheers,
Robin

Robin just wanted you to know that the ASCOM driver needed an update. It’s working perfectly in SharpCap!
Thank you.
Thank you.

Robin I noticed and used for the first time, imaging automation. Very cool. I’m ordering the new Primalucelab Giotto flat field generator. Can you add support for this? Maybe it’s already there?

I’m guessing SC isn’t set up for devices like the Primalucelab Giotto. Sure would be awesome if it could be…the automation could then do lights, darks, flats all unattended.

Hi,
not a device that I am familiar with, but I presume it will be using the ASCOM 'Cover Calibrator' device type, is that correct?
cheers,
Robin

Understood Robin. I’ve asked the US distributor for answers.
One more question slightly off topic: 10 Michron mount
I just acquired the GM1000 and learned the ASCOM driver is available and works. I’d like to keep using SharpCap so I’d like to know if any reasons thr 10 Michron wouldn’t work or would work differently than the EQ6R within the SC environment?
Thank you.
Mike

Re: PrimaluceLab Esatto Focuser connectivity
Hi Mike,
if there's an ASCOM driver then it *ought* to work. Unfortunately there are often quirks in these ASCOM drivers, so it is impossible to be sure without trying Usually the basics are fine, but some mount drivers have interesting behaviour around things like synchronizing position or tracking rates. Some are just plain flaky too
Do let me know if you hear anything more about the calibrator.
cheers,
Robin
