Hi all.
Maybe a daft question but when using feature tracking and a Goto equatorial mount, does the mount need to be polar aligned first and should tracking be selected ?

Re: Feature tracking
Hi,
if you are tracking astronomical objects then the answer is yes and yes - the tracking works on the basis that it is correcting slow drift of something that basically stays stationary in view over timescales of up to a few minutes. I suppose in theory there is nothing to stop you setting things up to track a terrestrial target, in which case you would not want the mount tracking, but that's a different idea entirely
cheers,
Robin
