Periodically save Live Stack with NO reset

I'd like SharpCap to save a Live Stack image every ten minutes or so as a safety measure, in case the laptop dies or other mishap happens during a long session. Here's a little more context:

* I don't want to use Live Stack's "Save and Reset" option because I don't want to start over every ten minutes. I use sigma clipping and I don't want the initial frames to start over multiple times.
* I don't want to save individual exposures. I don't want to use that much storage or deal with the additional postprocessing complexity.

Googling indicates that this is possible via scripting. That's a manageable option, but I'd prefer a simpler solution if one exists. If a "periodic save Live Stack" script is available somewhere, I'd rather start there than start with a blank screen.

Thanks in advance!

Good idea. Just to add my vote to this one - as well as not losing the benefit of the initial sigma clipping also not the relative scaling of the brightness filter

Hi,

scripting would be possible, but hard :(

You can however do it fairly easily with the sequencer - for example the following sequence:

Code: Select all

SEQUENCE
    LOOP 30 TIMES
LIVE STACK FOR 20 FRAMES SAVING AS AllFormats COUNTING Stacked FRAMES
    END LOOP
END SEQUENCE
This will save the stack every 20 frames, up to 30 times - you can adjust the numbers as required.

One issue with the sequencer approach is that you cannot tinker with the live stacking settings while the sequencer is running, but basically you could get everything set up then run this sequence and then leave SharpCap happily stacking. If you need to change anything, stop the sequencer, adjust what is necessary and run again - the worst that will happen is that you will have a longer gap between two of the save points.

cheers,

Robin
