Image is cropping in live stack

#1

Post by AndyGavin84 »

Hi There

I seem to have a constant issue with the image cropping while in live stacking, which then limits my exposure times.
I've attached an image, the histogram and camera setting files.

Balancing is fine, polar alignment has been good but this seems to happen when in livestack. You can see from the bottom of the image it starts to eat away and then a little on the right hand side.

Any ideas as to what causes this?

I have a skywatcher Explorer 150p, SW EQ5 pro goto mount, Altair astro GCAM3 290c

Many thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,

from the settings file you have included, I can see that you may be running the camera in RGB24 mode - that's not ideal for deep sky (or live stacking) - make sure you are in RAW12 mode instead (or maybe it is called RAW16 on your camera - whichever of those you have).

The histogram CSV looked relatively OK - very little at the high end of the histogram. Check that you have not over stretched the image in either the live stack histogram stretch or the display histogram stretch (both get applied, and sometimes if you have set both up to stretch that can be too much).

If you still get problems, please send a screenshot showing how the image looks and also showing the live stack histogram and camera controls.

thanks,

Robin
