Plate solving and sequencing

Would it be possible to continuously run a plate solve and synch routine, using a loop function in the sequencer say, and have it act as a quick and dirty autoguider?

Hi,

I suppose you could, but remember that real autoguiding is designed to respond quickly to changes (within a second or two), whereas this would respond slowly (wait for frame, wait for plate solving, wait for mount to GOTO). It would kind of work to stop long term drift, but not to improve the quality of images or the length of frames that you can capture without trailing.
