Cheers
I have been doing a sensor analysis of my RisingCam ATR3017000KPA color camera, Sony IMX 432 C sensor.
I did two runs with
(a) offset = 0
(b) offset = 40
I see significant difference between these results in read noise and in dynamic range.
Which one is the relevant one to use for later usage of the smart brain functionality?
In other words, should I set the offset to a suitable value, like I would do when imaging or should I set the offset to zero for purpose of the analysis ?
Cheers

Re: sensor analysis influenced by offset value
Hi,
the one with the higher offset is the better data. A very low offset can mean that black (or nearly black) pixels are clipped to the minimum pixel value of zero, meaning that the measurements of read noise will be incorrect. If the camera has an offset that SharpCap can control, it will automatically make adjustments to avoid this. Unfortunately for ASCOM drivers, the offset can only be adjusted by the user in the camera settings window.
cheers,
Robin
