PLATE SOLVING BUG

#1

Post by carlomuccini »

Hi

I found a bug in the plate solving procedure
I always use Astap successfully every time, and so it's usually always okay.
The bug occurs when changing cameras during the same session (ie without closing and reopening Sharpcap).
Basically, I use the mono camera, I do plate solving and start livestacking, all OK

I close the mono camera, detach it from the telescope and insert the color camera (note: the color camera is completely different from camera A)

Sharpcap recognizes it, I move the telescope to a bright star to focus, GOTO on the object for perfect allignement, and the platesolving fails.
Even changing the Gain and Exposure settings doesn't fix it: platesolving fails.

I close and reopen Sharpcap and .... it works!

Thanks for your wonderful SW and all the updates you are doing ! priceless

Hi Carlo

Could you check in the SharpCap settings, under the Plate Solving tab, if you have ticked the checkbox for Focal Length to Do Not Use?
It sounds like you have a specified focal length there.

Hi,

not quite sure if it will be the focal length, since that would not (I think) account for it working when you close and re-open SharpCap.

I think a log from a failed try and from a successful one would probably help reveal the cause - we can compare both the command sent to the plate solving engine and the results coming back and see what is different.

cheers,

Robin

I think you are right Robin.
I did read over the re-connecting part.
