Which channel to use for Brain sub exposure estimate?

As above.

Choosing red instead of green increases the min exposure time by almost 2. Now, could say that red is generally the channel of interest, so go by that. But that might overexpose green which may not be a good idea either.

I normally play safe and use red - any principles to be followed here?

Thanks

Hi,

I'd suggest working with the channel that has the most impact on your final image - if you are working with nebulae that are mostly Ha then red is probably best. Galaxies maybe green? If you choose the blue channel you often get a really long estimate!

cheers,

Robin
