Uninstalled Camera Driver Blank Menu Option Showing

I recently sold my Altair Camera and as normal I uninstalled the driver using the Windows Programs & Features application in Control Panel.

On opening SharpCap there is now a blank selectable option in the Camera menu where my Altair camera used to be located.

When I click on this blank space obviously it throws an error because it is still looking for the Altair driver.

How do I remove this blank line from the Camera menu?

Hi,

I think there are some ASCOM keys left in the registry relating to this camera after the uninstall and that causes the blank entry. This can easily be fixed

* Follow the instructions below exactly as incorrect changes made to the Registry can cause your system to become unstable or unbootable.
* Start an administrative command prompt
* In the command prompt run

Code: Select all

REG DELETE "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ASCOM\Camera Drivers\ASCOM.Altair.Camera" /reg:32
You should see a prompt asking for confirmation

Code: Select all

Permanently delete the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ASCOM\Camera Drivers\ASCOM.Altair.Camera (Yes/No)?
As long as it all looks exacly as shown here, enter 'y' for yes, then restart SharpCap and hopefully the blank space will be gone.

cheers,

Robin
