I’m having the same problem with my cgx as you describe using the 32 bit sc4 version. In hardware section and in camera controls it looks like i’m connected but i cant control the mount. Slew speed set at 8x and higher. I can connect with my eaf no problem. I have installed the most current ascom platform and drivers and then uninstalled and reinstalled cpwi. I guess i will try the 64 bit version?

Hi,

sounds like it might be something to do with the list of movement rates not being processed correctly. Can anyone post a log?

I always use CPWI with my Celestron CGX directly with the USB cable without the keypad and I have never had problems connecting with SC

Hi,

It looks like it is finding some slew rates that work, but that version doesn't log all of the info that the most recent versions do. Would you give it another try after updating to the very latest version? There are some improvements to the code that handles the slew rates from the mount since 4.0.8395 (at the very least it logs more useful info).

It looks like it is finding some slew rates that work, but that version doesn't log all of the info that the most recent versions do. Would you give it another try after updating to the very latest version? There are some improvements to the code that handles the slew rates from the mount since 4.0.8395 (at the very least it logs more useful info).

here's the log with the most current version,408682, i think, . it kinda works now but not completely functional as intended. had to set it to 3 degree and it would slew ra dec quickly in one direction but not the other. then after trying the other 8x 16x rates it would go very slowly. ie only hear motors turning.

Hi,

well from the log all looks OK - SharpCap is correctly detecting a range of movement rates up to 3 degrees per second. However it sounds as though the commands to do the actual moving are not getting through to the mount properly.

You could try turning on additional logging of mount communications (https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0/#Logging%20Tab) and trying again to capture the messages sent when trying to move the mount, but I suspect that we will discover that the commands being sent from SharpCap are as expected (otherwise this would be happening on every sort of mount).

There have been a number of threads on here about CPWI recently, it seems to be a bit of a mess at the moment. Unfortunately I cannot test as my Celestron mount is too old to work with CPWI. There is an older 'Celestron Telescope Driver' ASCOM driver which may be more robust than CPWI, although I don't know if it works correctly with newer mounts...
