Hi,

I don't know what to do now. I just tried again, it's cloudy and sowing and I take a picture of a white wall. One time it is too dark, then too bright. ???

Hi,

thanks for the log - it looks like SharpCap is getting stuck trying to find the right brightness and keeps trying in the 320 to 360ms range, but can get a brightness of 57% and 72%, but never anything in the 60-70% range.

It may be that the camera doesn't support smoothly varying exposure in this range - for instance maybe you can only get 0.25s, 0.33s, 0.4s, 0.5s and the ASCOM driver picks the closest supported value. That would be awkward :(

I can also see some glitches in the exposure finding code in SharpCap, so I will definitely look into those

Hello Robin,
I also use a 1000D.
The device keeps taking screenshots.
From the moment I connect it to the time I log out.
I can adjust the exposure.
I put the log to see maybe more clearly for you.
Thank you in advance.

Oh I found a solution.
When I go into liveview, I can control the camera without problems.
I'm posting the solution if someone finds themselves in the same situation.

Hi,

yes, that's the way SharpCap works - by default it will take images continuously from the camera and display them on screen as each new image is taken. This is fine in most cases, but not so good for cameras with a physical shutter! As you have discovered, pressing the 'Live View' button to toggle out of live mode and into still mode makes it much easier to use a DSLR.

cheers,

Robin
