It would be helpful to be able to disable "automatic hardware connection" on camera selection. Hardware sets (like in PHD2) selectable from toolbar would also help

I agree - in fact I tried to do this before 3.0 was released and it turned out to be much harder to change than I'd hoped, so it had to wait, but it is on the list.
