SharpCaps 3.1, 3.2 (32 bit), 3.2 (64 bit) all can connect to the iOptron iPolar camera and work well as long as the exposure is not set to LX. As soon as LX is selected the exposure slider goes to the right edge and stays there immovable.

I have left off the version numbers since it seems to apply to all SharpCap versions since 3.1. I have attached the log

Hi,

I presume that the camera is being used via a direct show driver, which means that you will only be able to adjust the exposure in steps of a factor of two anyway.

All that the LX checkbox does is change the scale of the slider that you used to control the exposure. With that box and ticked then the slider goes from the minimum exposure offered by the camera up to 5 seconds (or less if the camera doesn't go beyond five seconds). With the checkbox checked the scale goes from 0.5 seconds to the maximum offered by the camera. Checking or unchecking this box does not actually control the camera directly at all, just make the described changes to the UI.

Unless you actually want to go beyond five second exposure then there is no advantage to checking the LX checkbox. If the maximum exposure of the camera is actually 0.5 seconds then you may find that the slider cannot move at all with the LX button checked because the range is from 0.5 to 0.5. You should be able to see the range of exposures you can get by looking at the quick picks drop down which will show a variety of exposures that are valid for the camera.

Cheers, Robin
