Newbie needs help with SharpCap

Greetings. I'm new here as of 3 minutes ago. I have not researched any threads for my answer so if anyone could - I used to use NexImage5 as my astrocam with icap software. I now have a ZWO aso290MC and I'm using SharpCap - but I know how to use neither. I just set up on my driveway and I do believe I got the whole setup right and the cam plugged in and SharpCap operating - the screen was black and the controls were dark - but for the life of me I could no get Jupiter on screen. Is there something fundamental I am missing? Is the exposure perhaps too low? How do I raise it? Thanks form any help.
