Glad to hear about super pixel debayering; that is a useful thing.
However, I think for focus purposes, the best option is straight up 2x2 binning with no debayering at all, just (R+G+G+B)/4 for every Bayer block in the array. I guarantee there is no information useful to focusing that is lost in doing this. :O)
