Dave,

I presume due to small size of the pixel size of the ZWO ASI676MC, you are referring to the process of stitching together multiple individual images of the sky to create a single, high-resolution, panoramic-style image.

I first need to get the first image so that I know I am in the neighborhood and once that occurs I can move on to mosaics πŸ˜€. I still can’t get any portion of M31 so need to get SharpCap all setup to take images πŸ˜€. Like my mother told me when I was a kid, baby steps!!

When I am doing planning, particularly with unfamiliar objects or using new kit I use https://astronomy.tools/calculators/field_of_view/ and then if mosaics are involved I use the Telescopius Simulator at https://telescopius.com/telescope-simul ... =38.672834. That way there are no surprises.

Dave,

I just tried telescopius and it is awesome - I would be so happy with the theoretical picture which I could get - wow just awesome.

Hopefully with the settings we are discussing in sharpcap pro can get me there πŸ˜€.

Thanks,

Edmund

Dave,

So I connected the Celestron Unified Driver 6.1.7350 directly on SharpCap Pro 4.1 today and I got a message as noted below that the mount time is very different than SharpCap Pro 4.1 and if I would like to change it to the computer time.

I presume since I have the GPS on my telescope has not location a tower it is not updated yet since the unit is in the garage - is this why?

What do you think?

Thanks,

Edmund

Dave,

So, your suggestion was 100 percent correct and now I can get into the properties as noted below so 1st item has been addressed - yay!!!! :D

Now just wondering on the time issue - again, I suspect it is because the GPS has not reconnected to a tower since it is in the garage.

Thanks,

Edmund

The building could block the GPS signal. Different GPS receivers can have different number of channels, making them more or less effective. There are references on Cloudy Nights to the capabilities of different GPS devices. https://www.nexstarsite.com/OddsNEnds/StarGPS-NX.htm

I have Show all COM ports unchecked as recommended in the Help document, as the author says " you are only interested in the port relating to the mount".

Looks like you are on your way with this now.

Dave,

I did uncheck the all ports as you suggested. I will need to take the mount outside to test the GPS issue but I believe it is the garage that is causing the issue so will see.

Thanks,

Edmund

Dave,

So I think it is likely the garage. But something I have noticed, when I log on SharpCap indicates that the mount is at a different time and requested if I needed to sync the mount with the computer so I indicated yes. Then the next time I connected the mount to SharpCap, the warning was gone.

So I presume the time has been corrected - does this make sense?

Thanks,

Edmund

Yes. To test:
  • check the handset time with the mount disconnected
  • connect the mount to the PC
  • synchronise the time when Sharpcap requests this
  • check the handset time
This will happen every time you have had the mount turned off for a period of time as the handset does not store the time. When the GPS works, this won't happen.
