Yes, OK ... a full frame image capture is a good "summary".

But how do you want to discern the lens misalignment and the camera sensor tilt ?
If you are located in a desert with full night constant condition ... then I wish you a lot of fun :-)

What you can do is a through focus scan and then analyse it with CCD-Inspector or similar software.
You can generate a virtual image with no tilt of the sensor.

The next "problem" is the correct back focus of the camera to the corrector/flattner lens, if any is mounted.
From my experience ... it can take a long time until you found the right back focus for your camera.

Jean-Francois

You are seeing that this is not going to happen in a few months! This will be a process that will take a few years to do properly, I expect.

Over half the scopes are modified Petzval designs, so natively flat. But several will require flatteners added and possibly reducers on some examples. You are right, but double pass is quite sensitive to overall lens quality. This combined with the SC imaging will hopefully give me what I am looking for. Keep in mind, these scopes will be solely for imaging once I decide on my keepers, so I hope this methodology has some merit!

Keep questioning me, Jean-Francois! I am paying very close attention to your words!
