Yes, I think that the effect of polar alignment error on RA motion is very small - almost all the effect is on DEC. That means that if you are getting RA drift it's most likely due to periodic error.

I just wanted to let you know that my issue was definitely caused by flexture. I secured my usb cables and carefully rotated by ra axis and got it as close to 0 as I could. PHD2 mirrored my PA after a full worm cycle !

thanks for reporting back - I how much movement is caused by a loose USB cable - it's not that it moves the mount or even the guide scope, just that it twists the camera very slightly in the guide scope.
