I used an electroluminescent camera to create 30 flats with my ASI294c, then averaged them to create a single "master flat."
I have the option of saving this as either a color (debayered RGB) or mono file, then subtracting it from individual images that I'm livestacking.
Which should I do? Color or mono?
I am using a skyglow filter that gives the images a blue cast, and hoping that applying the flat will help correct both color balance and uneven illumination (vignetting).
But applying the color flat produces bizarre color coasts in the live stack that can't be corrected with the sliders or the auto color balance settings.
Should I then use mono flats with color images?
Thanks for your sage advice!!

Hi,
I think you may have answered your own question – if you can't make the colour come out correctly when using the colour flat frames then mono is definitely the way to go. In theory the colour flat frame will automatically colour balance the resulting image, but you may get interesting results when you combine that with dark subtraction and a strong stretch.
Cheers, Robin
