Hi,
I'm just asking to make sure, but do I need to get a Astrometry server program and index files for Polar Alignment to work? I searched this forum and I think I saw that SharpCap has a database for this part of the program. Those index files are kind of ginormous
Thanks..

Re: Astrometry server needed for Polar Alignment routine
Hi,
you don't need a separate plate solving program for the polar alignment - SharpCap has its own built in plate solver and database for that. Fortunately it only needs to worry about stars within about 7 degrees of each pole, so the data size is manageable.
