Saving the camera settings in livestacking

#1

Post by NeilG »

I now typically use livestacking and its ability to save individual raw frames as my preferred way of capturing DSOs, rather than using capture sequencing - this way I get to see what I'm pointing at :-)

Is there any chance you can save the equivalent of the camerasetting.txt file that you get in sequence capture, with the livestack raw frames?

It just helps me remember when I'm exposing at different timing and gains - rather than having to concoct some very weird folder/file naming conventions?

By the way - love the two monitor feature - allows me to see the live stack on a nice 19" monitor while controlling SC from the laptop screen.

Regards
Neil

Hi,

Yes, it sounds like a good plan to be able to save the camera settings with the raw files – I don't think it should be too hard.

Cheers, Robin

Just a bump to ask Robin if this will make it into a new build and when?

Thanks
Neil

Hi,

Right now, I am not adding any new features to SharpCap 3.2 (just bug fixes), so this will have to go onto the list for the next major upgrade later this year.

Cheers, Robin

You can do most of this in the name of the files as I set up the raw frames naming convention to add the filter exposure gain offset etc as part of the filename an example of one of my frame names would be as below is this the type of thing you are after. The overall folder is named as per the object enrterd in the box in Sharpcap.

So Light Frame / Red Filter / 90 second exposure / 75 gain / offset 10

Light_R_90s_75_Gain_10_Offset__00001.fits

Cheers

I set as a tag in the raw file naming "single frame exposure" but eventually it always appears "total integration exposure", even if i set the right tag name. So it could be a bug: single frame exposure tag always is total integration exposure...

I hope Robin will fix this soon, please.
