Support will be via the open-source ASCOM driver that is being written - see this thread viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1006

It can be made to work at the moment and I will be making improvements to SharpCap and the ASCOM driver itself if necessary later in the autumn/early winter.

cheers,

Hi, I just joined the forum to get some news and help in testing the current driver dslr ASCOM. I have a Canon D6 and it doesn't work properly, you have probably received the error log files today as I tried different times. I tried both in live view and not. There is a connection error so no picture coming from the camera(black window). It seems that all other regular sharpcap features is running fine. I set up a visual studio 2017 IDE and it works fine, I was able to compile the project and get my own dslr ascom binary, Unfortunately I have no skills in C# programing. I got the following error:ASCOM.NotConnectedException.
Void CheckDotNetExceptions(System.String, System.Exception) @ ASCOM.DriverAccess.MemberFactory

I have currently SharpCap.exe [3.2.5840.0] and use it often with ZWO camera so I am a little bit disappointed to not be able to use it with my 6D.

best regards

Hi,

currently there are issues with the open source ASCOM driver that need fixing that make it a bit hit-and-miss as to whether it will work right now.

I am hoping to get around to looking at improvements to this late 2018 or early 2019 - of course, given that the ASCOM driver source is available, there may be updates before then that improve matters if other people contribute to the ASCOM driver.

cheers,

Robin

Hi, thanks for your reply, is V Torkalo the entry point or contact point as he is involved in the dslr ascom driver design? Just for clarification for me, you customize his driver to fit it with sharcap, am I right? So you mean that new release of Torkalo could improve the fit into Sharpcap? Maybe I should post my problem to V Torkalo too to help improve....

best regards

Hi,

I made some fixes to his code, but I don't know if he has made a new install yet with those fixes in. It would certainly be best to report any issues on his thread on CloudyNights or even better on the github project. Ideally I'd like to avoid having multiple editions of the ASCOM DSLR driver (although I did create one myself to make my fixes availble for testing - I'd prefer that not to be a regular thing)
